The current Constitution of Pakistan does not provide for environmental protection or natural resources.

However, Pakistan adopted in 1997 the Environmental Protection Act, "an Act to provide for the protection, conservation, rehabilitation and improvement of the environment, for the prevention and control of pollution, and promotion of sustainable development", which also establishes the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency. Last annual report on the state of environment was published in 2005 here.

Information on national policies regarding environmental protection can be accessed through the Ministry of Environment's official website.
