The Constitution of Samoa has no provisions on the protection of the environment and natural resources1.

However, Samoa got a complete legislation regarding environmental protection which can be accessed through the Food and Agriculture Organization Legal Office’s website. In that respect, the Land, Survey and Environment Act, 1989, “provides for land administration and other matters relating to land, the protection of the environment and several matters relating to the conservation of wildlife and fisheries resources” and also establishes the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
